Thank you so much Haakon for sharing those images with us. Please do stay safe for us, and take good care when you are at home.

(PS: when are you going to Laos?)

Thank you. I'm flying to Luang Prabang tomorrow and plan is to be back in Bangkok on June 10th. Was at MBK shopping for more memory cards yesterday... 48GB should do it?
Hoping to come back with at least one image that is worth showing you guys
Have you been to north Laos before? Any hidden gems? If enough water in the mekong we hope to include a boat journey to Nong Kiaw and then find our way to Lunag Namta before returning to Luang Prabang.

I wholeheartedly agree with the final statement in your blog:

Life goes on for now. But for how long? The political disagreements are far from being solved, if they ever will be. Has Thailand lost face to the world? Will they leave this behind and rise again or is this the start of a new and falling Thailand? Questions nobody I know can answer... only time will tell.
I hope they will raise above the divisional politics of late and realise that the problems can only be solved by negotiation and inclusive policies.
          Good Luck Thailand!!

PS> Have a good trip to Laos, a country in Asia I have never visited.

Hizbollah wanted to blow a tourist target in Bangkok, and sent two of their agents (terrorists) to do it...

The terrorists are IN THE COUNTRY now, and Thai police is planning to apprehend them.... meanwhile, US Embassy and Norwegian Embassy warns their citizens to be extra careful and avoid tourist-spots.

Re: What is going on in Thailand (again)?

Thailand luckily avoided an immediate problem yesterday. The Constitutional Court wisely ruled with the majority on the matter of whether a new Constitution is needed and who will write it.
They also wisely ruled that the new Constitution will have to be approved and accepted by the Thai people in a referendum, not just by the present ruling majority in Parliament.
It could easily have got ugly, if the ruling had been otherwise.

The colour coded "gangs" of supporters for the various factions were already dressed up and assembled in the streets, but luckily the Red Shirts and the Yellow Shirts in different streets, otherwise they could very easily have got into fighting.

But no matter the Constitution, if the inequality in Thailand is not addressed this is only a respite. The under laying problem of an upper class that is prosperous and have been ruling Thailand since time immemorial and a lower class with very different fortunes is not going to be solved by nice words, but with deeds.

The video in the link by Pakarang above was very descriptive, but didn't tell anything new to those who have some knowledge of Thailand, other than the touristy bit.

What will happen when the present King dies is the greatest question facing Thailand now, not if the new Constitution will contain some "loophole" for Thaksin to return, as some cynics say.
