This is Kanchanaburi (My happy life at the Thai country side).

    This is Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi is a place I have been fortunate to spend a lot of time over the years I lived in Thailand.

Whilst the first images I made in the 90's by far are not of any significant quality to show here, I rather start showing the images I took from 2003 and onwards, when I purchased my proper digital camera with some quality.

Therefore, I start this thread with images from 2003 and onwards.

This might be a very time consuming (and long) thread demanding a lot of work to be completed, but nevertheless, I certainly hope some of our members will find some interest in the images and also maybe in the future share their own impressions from this wonderful corner of Thailand.

I dedicate this thread to Lady C which recently announced her intention to visit Thailand, including Kanchanaburi. This is what she might get to see on her travels.

I start with images from a museum at Kanchanaburi:

The bridge over the river Kwai (actually, in Thai, River Kwae - and, not the one from the famous movie):

In Kanchanaburi, there are two water falls by the name of Sai Yoke: Sai Yoke Noi (little) and Sai Yoke Yai (large):

This is the smaller Sai Yoke waterfall:

So special, the words you have written to introduce this thread. I am moved to tears to think that I should soon be able to share here my own impressions of this place, as is your hope.

I have the prospect of a considerable photographic challenge if I am to return with anything at all worthy of your images (I suppose my bravery in posting my photos with yours in the Rørøs thread has turned out to be an anticipation of this – test run so to speak!).

The dedication here means so very much, as does that most enticing of panoramas. . .
But now today I must pack for Norway!

Whether you want to create your own Kanchanaburi thread or add to this one, is entirely up to you. We can always cross reference the threads.

This thread, as well as many others, may take a very long time to build, because I have only started with the images from 2003 so far... there is still thousands more images from Kanchanaburi to share. I might not be finished in a long while.

Additionally, I have tried getting some help (to no avail) in finishing so many of the unfinished pages at the main page: so this thread and others, might take a looong time... I have several life times of work to complete all that I would want....

                        I'm so behind schedule...
