Bang Pa In and the Royal Palace

This thread has been created in order to help Lady C find out what she is about to experience when she makes a visit at Bang Pa In...

I have been to Bang Pa In many times, and have a whole lot of images from this place. This is a good place to head for photography, and is not that far from Bangkok (easily done on a daytrip).

I start with images from the train station at Bang Pa In:

Not too far from the train station at Bang Pa In, you can see overgrown irrigation canals and peaceful houses in a lush setting:

The main reason many people visit Bang Pa In is the main sight: the Royal Palace at Bang Pa In.... even the royal family occasionally spends time here (the area is then naturally closed off to the general public).

Oh pakarang what can I say! Thank you is totally inadequate for the effort you have put into looking out and posting these images. And what a start - you know how very much I like railway stations – this one could have been made for me I love it so much! Strangely reminded me of Grieg’s house and Ole Bull’s villa Lysoen – perhaps with going to Norway and Thailand within just a few weeks I am experiencing something of that state of belonging to two places at the same time that for you must be a natural and everyday feeling.

And panoramas of the palace! The station is as near to definite as my itinerary can be, and I suspect there may not be time for the palace, but one should always have reasons to return. Ah, but I see that other “definite destinations” have appeared in a Kanchanaburi thread . . .

Correction – the Royal Palace is indeed back in the confirmed itinerary, and after seeing those irresistible panoramas of yours I am of course delighted!
