In my own collection, I have a lot of old images from Bangkok which I think is so cool. They are especially cool when you know how that very same area looks like today... and can see what is left, and what has changed.

Otherwise, they are historical images which tell tales of a time long ago...

An old tram downtown: both buildings in the background still stands today:

Did you also notice the former SAS office in the background?

As we remember, it was Scandinavian Airlines which started Thai Airways.

Oh yes, I noticed the SAS office. The very first thing my eyes spotted on another image was a BOAC sign...
(I belive we all have an eye for what we're interested in, maybe..., details, you know).

I am always interested in “before and after” pictures, and these are simply fascinating juxtapositions. As Sterkoder just said there is so much to see in them. Big thank you pakarang for digging deep into that box to find them for us.

I find these old images from Siam / Thailand very fascinating, especially because I know the capital and the country so well....

Two images from 1951 of the city tram:

The area around Siam Center, way before Siam Center was built on the left side:

Same area, a little later, shows the erected Siam Center:

Oh I so love these old photos. Well, I’ll accept the photo assignment to take a new photo of Ratchadamnoen Avenue – should be able to manage that .
As for that Welcome to Bangkok, they got their priorities right especially for you paks, with such prominence given to your favourite beverage (….and the Starbucks came later)

To me, this is so interesting and fascinating... everything about this decade, and the decades before that. Hair styles, clothes, traditions, the exotic and simpler life....

                                Enjoy this one:
