I think a lot of people will agree with the title of the last one. Freely translated; "God bless our expensive father/mother land".

      Ombugge,don't be so materialist!

  • You all GOT to see these images in this article.... see the before/now by sliding the white line left and right....

WAOW... the one with the glacier really is pretty astounding... the glacier is now almost gone.

We like to say that nothing changes but this proves that even rocks change shape!

These are truly spectacular comparisons! Check them out.... there's even an image from Ålesund for ombugge!

There are A LOT more images on the website where they are featured: http://www.tilbakeblikk.no/

Here you can also layer the images to see the before/now.

    • Absolutely love this sort of thing! Yes pakarang, much less glacier, and the other thing that struck me in so many of the photos is how many more trees there are now.

I still have happy memories of rushing around Ålesund to complete a Then and Now photo challenge for ombugge (when he was far away in Singapore)

      • I find this fascinating too. There is a certain thought in Norway that the land is being swallowed by trees, brushes and denser vegetation and that the cause is far less animals out gracing on the lands (during summer).

Hugely enjoyable, ombugge. Especially Ålesund of course, and Trondheim showing the reclaimed land at the docks.

        • As menitoned, greatly appreciated that link!

WAOW. Stavanger, and other cities have truly changed. We tend to think the cities doesn't change that much because it happens all the time, bit by bit. But when you put the images up like this, you truly see ALL the changes so fast. One thing is sure though, we are way more people (houses) than in the past!

Naturally, I found Trondheim the most interesting. They have certainly done a lot in the harbour, but I also knew that from previously having studied tons of photos of the area.
