Come with me for a flight from Gardermoen to Vigra on a beautiful spring afternoon. Unfortunately the sun was low and the windows dirty, but please try to enjoy anyhow.

Leaving Gardermoen at 1645 hrs. Flying over snow covered farms and low hills at first:

Most of the large lakes were still covered by ice:

    Some only partly so:

Whether starting to thaw, or newer had a full cover this winter is beyond my knowledge.

As we flew north the mountains came into sight and the snow cover more complete and the population less:

Soon the higher mountains started to show, with complete snow cover and no population to speak of:

You can see all the way to the west coast and the open sea:

I believe the fjord arm you see there is Lusterfjord.

      Jostedalsbreen?:

      We have reached Nordfjord:

Clouds are filling the fjord arms and valleys:

We get over the Sunnmore Alps:

Saebo in Hjorundfjorden is clear of cloud cover.

        As is Standal:

These rugged edges here are popular with climbers:

Some avalanches are ready to slip down the mountainsides as soon as the conditions are right:

The mountains gets a bit rounder in shape as we approach the coast:

Snow has gone (for now) at the lower elevations:

Dry weather cause grass fires to be seen at Sula.

Atlanterhavsparken Aquarium is now said to be the biggest in Scandinavia:

Worth a visit when you are next in Aalesund.

Alnes create a nice natural breakwater to protect the waters inside:

That is it. No more pictures from the air, as we landed at Vigra Airport shortly after.

Thanks for these aerial photos, Ombugge. Dirty windows do matter - in 2012 we did a three day flight in a Fokker50 to three states -Sth Australia, NSW and Queensland. Colours were amazing but the photos were not - due to dirty small windows. My favourite town, Birdsville in Qld, from the air deserved better!

Absolutely stunning photos from your trip "up in the clouds".

Every time I take a fly in weather lika that, I can't help myself taking a lot of pictures as well. The land beneath the plane looks so deserted and pristine. The mountains, the valleys, the fog down in the fjords and perhaps the most fascinating thing: the "scars" in the mountains. I mean, you can sometimes see how the icebergs once upon a time formed and shaped the valleys, mountains and the highlands. I love this so much.

Thank you so much for letting us join you in the skies.

The fellow filming this seems to be not more than 17 years.
Have a look at this, for me it looks like he has taken the art of drone filming to a new height of storytelling:

The approach to Vigra Airport is the most beautiful in Norway: http://www.smp.no/nyheter/2017/05/04...ick_articles=1

I don't know how many CVF members who have flown into, or out of Vigra on a clear day, but let us hear it from those who has.
(For those who hasn't, see post #78)

On a recent SAS commercial one of their veteran captain's was asked about the most beautiful airport approach he had ever done... guess the answer?

                Ålesund naturally.

PS: He was from Ålesund as well.

Amazing footage from Norway making it's way around news media's of the world - apparently making people cry when looking at it...

Seen this film before, and just replayed it on YouTube this morning. I must say: this is one of the top three commercials I've ever seen about Norway.
