A Norwegian runway from the air... well, technically, the aircraft is still on the ground:

Someone is apparently not that interested in the view:

There are those instances when the simple pleasures of looking at photos, picking personal favourites, or having a particular interest in something depicted, suddenly gets totally overtaken by a stops-you –in-your-tracks WOW of an image, as is the case of that second photo in #4. Simple genius.

Took some images and posted them in the old thread from a flight over the mountains and coastline near Kristiansund.
Today, in this perfect weather, I made a flight from Kristiansund to Molde via Battenfjord and back via Bud.

Reinsfjell with Torvik by the sea

              Southward looking overhead Furset

After I made a touch-and-go at Molde airport, I flew out Julsundet and over STX Aukra, where we see two new offshore vessels being built

And this is the gas plant for Ormen Lange at Gossen/Aukra, delivering gas to UK. Time from raw gas coming in to the plant from the gasfield out in the ocean to refined gas is on its way to UK is 10 minutes!

              Bjørnsund

Looking west out in the North-Atlantic. View is unrestricted, and next stop out there somwhere is Island. Look how bright the horizon is...., not a cloud!

Overhead the Atlantic Road, with Kristiansund in the distance

              Beautiful sight looking south.

Overhead Kårvåg at Averøy, looking east-north-east towards Kristiansund

Kristiansund. And if you look good, the little tiny white spot to the left of the city, is the southbound hurtigrute on her way into the city

South side of Frei, with the anchor spot I sometimes post pictures from. The fjord is Freifjorden and this is in a way "Sterkoder Land"....
You can also spot the Frei church close to the nearest shoreline

....as I live close to the yellow spot there

And here we have the yellow spot again

Ever wondered why the Kristiansund airport is called Kvernberget?
It's situated near, or at the foot, of a small mountain called Kvernberget, and that is called so because its silouette looks like a kvernstein, a mill stone. Don't know if you call it a mill stone in english, but it's a stone driven by a waterfall which makes it go around, and you pour corn/grain into it and get flour out...
It looks just the same from the seaside, and it was the old fishermen/seamen from several hundred years ago who named it as a landmark when coming in from the ocean.
Here, the Kvernberget is seen from south, and you can see the airpost as a white stripe in the center of the yellow oval

Thank you for those “birds-eye” viewsof such lovely places in perfect weather – enough to make a seagull envious!!!!!!!!

And yes, the words mill stone are correct. Nearby where my flat is there are some older buildings, now also flats but originally mills, and some of the old mill stones have been retained as almost sculpture-like features. (I know, I should take some photos . . . )

Incredibly beautiful photos from your flight Sterkoder.
It is totally different when one gets photos taken from airplanes. Wonderful.
                        Best wishes from

I am glad to see you are still flying.

The snow capped mountains are beautiful. That kind of crisp clear air is very rare for us in the southern USA.
