    Re: This is Lofoten

It's quite fun to follow your vacation almost in real-time and jump between all these threads without knowing where it's going to end.
Is this perhaps the next thread?

I haven’t been as far as Å myself – that end of the road image very special. Nice how the souvenir shop is grass roofed and merging with the rocks.

        Re: This is Lofoten

Today we went to Kabelvåg, and as I scroll through the previous pictures here, it's easy to take the same pictures as any other photographer..., maybe due to the size of the place (city?)

Anyway, to get there, we had to pass the largest wooden building north of Trondheim, the Vågan church from 1893.
The wood and timber came from Trondheim though.
This is also called the Lofotkatedralen (Lofoten cathedral)

Then we drove out to Lofotakvariet (Lofoten aquarium)

In the distance from this place, we saw Vågakallen mountain

Inside of the aquarium there was of course a souvenir shop (what else)

          Re: This is Lofoten

What else..., I asked in the previous post. Fish, obviously.

          Steinbit (Catfish)

Flyndre (Flounder). Didn't God have anything special to do when he was finished creating everything...? This looks like something he created to chear Himself up (haha)

This on the other hand, is something rather beautiful

          The aquarium with Vågakallen.
I got somewhat 'starstruck' at the aquarium, because being there as a regular visitor was the famous singer/songwriter and Gitarkamerat Halvdan Sivertsen. He lives in the area and has ownership to "Gamle Salten".
(He's in this picture, but I'm no paparazzi so I wouldn't tell where)

Then we drove 'down town' to look at the old "Lofotferga". What a beauty!

So here are pictures presented before, but these are mine...
The local Ølutsalg (Beer Shop, in lack of a better word)

A colourful boat and writings on a wall leading to some place else, I suspect...

            Kabelvåg Hotel

            Yepp, the bike's still here

A house in Kjøpmannsgata with details over the door

              Part of Gågata in Kabelvåg

And a nice private home, with lots of flours in the windows, and three women looking down from the second floor.

What a great day you had! I had meant to also mention Kabelvåg when I mentioned Henningsvær as I was able to get to both places even allowing for travelling by buses. Maybe I’ll have some more photos to show after you return, as mine will certainly be different because it was winter and lots of snow and I only seem to have posted one photo in this thread!

You did so well with those aquarium photos

Here is an article about travel in Lofoten: http://kortreist.smp.no/forside/article20195.ece
It comes with some impressive pictures. (I think our Carina could top these, though)

By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARINA, even if a little late.

I do appreciate Halvdan Sivertsen,a great representative of folk singer tradition with a real talent as a guitarist.I like his song" Bare Hurtigruta Gaar" and heard concerts on UTube.
On your photo I think he stands on the footbridge.

Well, let me just say then; yello/green jacket and blue jeans far out on the quay ;-)

Stunning, that's all I can say! But no, also beautiful, hypnotic. And for the first time in any video/vimeo I enjoyed the music, which expressed what I was feeling.
Thank you for its discovery, Tommi.
