Even Star Wars troopers take time out of their busy schedule batteling the forces of the universe, to celebrate in town:

Darth Vader doesn't at all look as bad as they say he is.... he actually looks quite friendly:

                  Nice "being there feeling" too!

….ooohhh all those stormtroopers! …and a BEAR (probably looking across into the crowd to see if Lookchin’s there!)

Dear Tommi and Lady C for your kind comments.

And what more suitable moment was the posting of Star Wars storm troopers, than at the day of the passing of Princess Leia (the one who played Princess Leia).

I had no idea at the time of posting, but I see now that the timing was perfect.

Although, as mentioned in 'Seagull Away a While', I'm likely to be in computer limbo for some time yet, I think I should manage to post the latest photos from yesterday's celebrations of 17th May.

                  Norway’s Constitution Day 2018, Edinburgh, Scotland .

This year everyone assembled at the pedestrian part of the Royal Mile in the Old Town.

The parade set off at one o’clock – the time when the gun is fired up at the castle

                  .

There are two policemen out in front, stopping traffic from the procession route, but there is minimum disruption to traffic nowadays. In the past a considerable length of Princess Street used to be closed, but the long period of tram line building brought that to an end.
Behind the police, a bagpiper heads the parade, followed by the banner of the Norwegian Student Association.

I'd walked ahead to get views of the piper and banner, and concentrating on those I didn't realise the advert for a city tourist activity was in the photo!

Ah, that's better - the procession passes St Giles Cathedral!

Continuing down the street called The Mound towards Princes Street. . .

. . . and passing the art galleries, before turning and taking the flight of steps into West Princes Street Gardens, below the castle.

We are heading to the Norwegian Memorial Stone where the ceremonies takes place, and of course the singing of "Ja, vi elsker dette landet.".

Thank you so very much for showing May 17th in Scotland.... looks really festive and appropriate.

I don't think people would have been cheering quite so much if a group of loud Norwegians came walking down the town's streets during the viking- ages.
