As mentioned earlier in the thread, Tromsø Shipyard has moved to the north tip of Tromsøya

The area is now under construction and will eventually appear with new housing, hotels and much more for residents of the area.

If everything goes according to plan, the area will be completed in 2025.

SAS SK4456 from Bodø about 2 minutes before landing on Tromsø airport yesterday morning.
The plane is getting small with the snowy mountain in the background.

Superb pictures, Bengt! Thank you for sharing. We expect today 28°C. Strange to see a snowy landscape.

Thank you Ralf for the comment.
It sounds nice with 28° C compared to +5 degrees in Tromsø today.

Spectacular views and delightful weather Azimut! - I don't mind the cold when it looks like that!

There is plenty of snow up on Fjellheisen
They use both large and small machines to remove the snow.

Beautiful city Tromsø - at it's very best. Those images of "Tromsøya" is wonderful - spring/ winter-spring can be such a wonderful time of the year.

Interesting to see the re-development of the former Tromsø Shipyard. I bet that speck of land was worth a LOT of money!

Last time I took the cable car to the top must have been 25 years ago - at least! That is something for my "must-do" list next time in Tromsø!
With best regards from Jan-Olav Storli

The new terminal opened at Tromsø today. Lots of fuss, noise and speeches by politicians! Actually not too bad a place, at least it's still in the middle of town.

We were on Midnatsol as she arrived, with all the bands and crowds waiting to greet the ship (don't think it was us).

Will post some photos at some stage, although I suspect Bengt will beat me to it!
                        Cheers,

                        Mark.

So you are travelling northbound at midnatsol? If so and if you were out on deck, we have seen you yesterday in stokmarknes. Did you notice the two people on the beach of the campsite right before the harbour?

Hi Ralf! Yup, we were on MS last night. Can't find a campsite in the photos, or two (frozen!) people - I'll keep looking. I didn't have much company on deck on MS on arrival at Stokmarknes, even Mrs PoloUK wasn't interested, so you may well have seen an ageing, round Englishman toddling around. I was certainly on my own when I watched our passage through Risøyrenna at 4.30am ish.

Ha! So it had any sense to watch out. I don‘t think, you had this feriecenter in focus, where the campsite is belonging to. All people watch out for the old finnmarken at that place. But we will super-enlarge our pictures.and send you a portrait! Nice to have seen a CV member on our travel again!

Ralf! Polo! …This is terrific reading and is giving me such a huge smile I am no longer feeling the nagging need to apologise all the time for recent failures to arrange meet-ups, nearly-but-not-quite meet-ups, semi-meet-ups, ultra-short meet-ups…

                            Happy Midsummer!

Risoyrenna was magical for me on my first ever trip through the channel. Brilliant greens, blues, near-whites, a palette of colours .
