Some of the buildings along the Nidelven River, first the Royal Garden Hotel.... once upon a time, it was built on a plot of land where some dock houses burnt down in a large city fire some decades ago:

The new building across from the Royal Garden, is the new newspaper-building of local paper Adressa:

Just trying to be creative with the coastal steamer in Trondheim.

Not sure which one works best, if any of them work at all.

Some more rooftops through super-tele-zoom (surprised by the really high number of chimneys in this image!):

Modern architecture and a sample of one a LOT older... which one will last the next 200 years?

#1271, this seems a bit unusual viewpoint, nice!

It's always interesting to see new and old sceneries from the city I think I know, but that I actually don't.

              Thank you Tommi!

1271 was made possible by climbing down a stone wall, and keeping my equipment close to the river. I was out to try finding a " new way" to show a very popular motif. My next plan is to try doing this maybe in the so-called "blue-hour".... that could be a nice effect too.

I think, and certainly hope, that there will be some tram-lovers still here at the forum. I think this might be the perfect Christmas gift from me to Ralf, perhaps.

Trondheim is a beautiful city - no doubt. But, it would have been such a better city if they had let all the tram-lines operate till this day, and into the future.

If the trams had still been operating, perhaps we wouldn't have the tireless discussion about the costly "super-busses" which also needs 500 million NOK additional to rebuild some bus-stops to fit the handful buses they are going to purchase.

I love them trams of Trondheim, and think it's history towards the end is sickening to the bone. Some city politicians certainly had a personal vendetta against trams, and used his/their powers to shut them down all, almost overnight.

You can learn so much more about this at the Tram-Museum at Munkvoll, by their truly dedicated staff. Entrance is also free.

And finally today, I promise (I think), here are some not so successful "tiny planet" images from Trondheim.

I struggle to get them super sharp like in advertisements, but then again, they are stretched a LOT as well.....

                      More practice perhaps?

I have lived in this city for some years, but I really don't know (nor remember) the name of this tiny square pressed between KJØPMANNSGATA 38 and 40. It's sitting next to Cicignons Plass, but I think this fountain is sitting in a differently named open space.

What I do know is that there has been a struggle whether to tear down Kjøpmannsgata 38 or not (the yellow building to the left). Personally, I hope they keep it, because I feel the city has enough big office buildings in the downtown area and because i think it would not look good in such a historic street..

Additionally, the future plans of Kjøpmannsgata (literally meaning the "trader-men's street), is now under consideration and a tender has been announced to international architect companies to reinvigorate the whole street.

New attraction in Trondheim, if you can call a cafe an attraction..(?)... the former ammunition storage from WW2 near Østmarkneset lighthouse, Lade has been converted to a cafe/restaurant, open only at summer season: the name of the place is LADEKAIA:

Trondheim like you haven't seen the town before (I hope).... these images are best viewed in full scale, but they would be far too big for the forum then:
