Just wanted to say that it takes something special for me wanting to spend time during my holiday looking again at these "fjord and city-scapes".

A collection of Lillegårdsbakken as it used to look like in the old days.... around the time when they had to widen the road because it was really unsafe there...

It's near Bakklandet and some of you, Lady C, might now exactly what part and what intersection we are talking about:

                      - and, which design do you think would be best for the walking bridge from Ravnkloa fish market towards the fjord?

Yes pakarang, I know where this is, having been this way once in the course of my city wanderings. I can see that not only was the actual road dangerously narrow, but the lack of visibilty around the corner compounded the problem. I really enjoy all these old photo collections from over the years …fascinating to see what’s gone and what remains, and the stages in between.

Ladehammeren is another place I’ve found my way to, and I liked sitting up there. I'm glad to see at close quarters that the sculpture has been re-erected after the storm.

I haven't made my mind up about these bridge designs at Ravnkloa. I like sitting there near the statue of The Last Viking, and so am perhaps drawn to those artist impressions which show folk sitting around! - but I need to give more thought and consideration regarding the actual bridge.

Finally among all these interesting posts, comes news of relocating the cargo terminal. I admit to having totally missed out on realising this possibility was being seriously considered. Ummm, something else to think more about – the reasons and the implications.

I'm currently at a point where I'm not sure if the bridge is a "good thing" or a ..... let's say "less good thing". I have spoken with some of the people at the historical boats docked opposite the fish market, and they say they do not wish this bridge to be erected. The reasons they give is that the canal will be a lot more "cluttered" and not as attractive as it is today. They have throughout the later years built up quite an amazing atmosphere of olden times around there.

I do agree with them to some extent.

As you also know, we also have the "fløttmann" (aka the boatman") which rows people across the canal from the fish market for some small change. But that is mainly in summer and on nice weather days.

Here is a fantastic report with images from Trondheim - like it used to be before (28 images): http://www.adressa.no/nyheter/adress...cle9480069.ece

Needless to say, I find these old images from Trondheim truly interesting. I love studying them, and looking if there is something left from that time, and what have changed.

Søndags Adressa (Sunday edition) also had this slide-to-reveal-images last Sunday: 1900 vs. 2014
