I do like shopping malls and have nothing against them, but what I do not like about this idea is the very large support beams which is placed in the middle of the street.

A part of Trondheim Torg has something similar, the back of some buildings is now under a roof, and that is not too bad at all. What I try to say is that if a glass roof is to be erected, it should not need to contain a lot of obstructing pillars to hold it up.

What is more important for the downtown area to pull customers is ease of parking and the ability to park free, if you can provide some kind of validation stamp from shops. Let's say, for every 100 kroner you use downtown, you can park free anywhere for 30 or 60 minutes. This was the case in Bangkok on all the malls. First 20 minutes free, thereafter free parking if you had a shop's stamp on your parking ticket.

      Another Trondheim issue:

Why in the world can not Torghatten Nord have their company logo on the wall of their office building at Brattøra? This is bordering to prejudice against Torghatten, and I wonder if someone at the city council is still upset with the fact that Torghatten bought up the remains of the old Fosen Trafikklag?

Some winter magic from Trondheim and the areas around: starting with ice skating at Jonsvannet:

                          Great pictures J-O !

Among them, one of my favourite places in Trondheim.

Have you been to the park by "Nedre Leirfoss" during summer?
(I do a lot of "pedalling" to get there - lay down and relax - and feeding the ducks)

                          Comment

I do venture to both upper and lower Leirfossen when I need to get away from it all, summer, autumn and winter.

You might find some more photos further forward in this thread, I think. It's a great place for picnic, and BBQ.

Such brilliant captures of winter cold! – I’ll just put on a few layers and a woolly hat before looking at them again!….

So nice to see your pictures, Jan-Olav..., always!!!
I see from the macro of those snowflakes/ice crystals, that I soon will miss the macro possibility I had in my old FujiFilm where I could go as close as less than a centimeter.
My Pentax also has a choise of "macro" on the camera wheel, but my 18-55 will not produce a clear image unless I'm 10-15 cm away....

As we all see, we don't exactly need summer to go out and take great pictures. Thanks again!!
