Three storeys! – I would love to see what the room at the top with that little window is like inside. Nice sloping ceilings no doubt. That would be my room - even though the balcony is a floor lower. (I hate that my flat doesn't have a balcony).

The sad thing is that the ground of this house, and the yellow one behind,
is classified as an area for offices and commerce.
So their existence seem to be limited.

As far as I know, these buildings were bought by the city - a couple of decades ago.
Originally to make room for a road project that never came into being.

The white house, and several others in the vincinity were built as summer homes for wellsituated people living downtown.
Surrounded by mostly farmland, these places had names.
Like: "Paulinelyst", Louiselyst", and where the bus depot now is: "Sorgenfri".
(Last mentioned, directly translated: "No Worries".

On the subject of translation into English:

Nearby is one of the towns cemetaries - named "Tilfredshet".
                Direct translation: "Satisfaction".
Which seemes like an odd name for a cementary.

Anyone with a more appropriate translation?

And hopefully J-O has a picture of that beautiful wooden chapel there.

Thank you Nichu for the additional details on that white house.

I learn something new each day, so next time, I'll look for that wooden cemetery chapel.

A lot of years ago, when the pilgrims walked from Sweden to Trondheim, this was the first place they would see the town and where they could rest before walking the last bit. They also prayed and thanked the heavenly forces which guided them to all along the way till this point, hence the cross was placed here. There is also a grave site from the viking age located here.

Saw these renderings in the local paper recently: oh, how I wish they would modernize and rejuvenate the city square with outdoor cafe's, restaurants, a fountain and lots of new activity....

But as fast as things are happening in Trondheim, not likely. Had it been a new toll road, we would have seen some action fast....
