Great photos Elizabeth, I really enjoy the ones with a human theme - sometimes we (I!) have too many machines and ships, not enough people.
    Yes that's almost hilarious.

    Talking about people,
Every time I read this thread I always kind of get stuck to the "wet paint"-post.
Trying to figure out what that bottom row on the paper sign says, and in some way missing pictures from the paint job itself.

A bit further up the road for today's pictures - from stunning Skarsvåg, on the road to the North Cape Plateau - and a cruise ship port in her own right.

King Crab on the menu - but you've got to catch it first!

One of my favourite photos - wish I'd spotted the broom behind our model though!

We tend to travel out later in the evening, so the midnight sun was at its yellow-ish best.

I know what you mean! I was looking back at previous visits, and find there are some days - quite a few of them - where there are just 2 or 3 photos, and even then they're of one or other of us standing at the quayside, looking cold and wet!

Could well be J-O - didn't have long on the Simulator - just remember that at least some of the surrounding ships could be set alight at will - complete with flames and smoke!! I also remember that although the simulator is static - no motion - the wrap around displays really give a weird sensation of the movement of the ship. It doesn't take much to fool what passes for my brain, but that certainly managed it.

Thank heavens normal life usually rather less exciting.

Always a working town, H'våg has a lot more industry than just a herd of buses taking the masses up to Nordkapp.

Nordstjernen, fishing boat, lorry and skip!!

When the Hurtigruten is in, it feels like the town was built around it.

Honningsvåg is home to Nordkapp maritime fagskole og videregående skole - specialising in all further education relevant to the area.

With a beautiful fjordside location, the school serves a large area - it specialises in hotel and service trades, maritime services and even has its own Fishing Vessel, Finnmarksfisk.

    Finnmarksfisk.

And possibly even more impressive is the Bridge Simulator.

Amadea and Albatros on the berth, late June 2009, the glorious evening sun reflecting on the fjord.

This is the view from Nordkappveien - since then the new Kai Nord has been constructed, giving somewhere for the very big ships to moor (as per the Oriana photos in the 'Cruise Ships in Norway 2011' thread.

Another ship picture this time - 2011 - Vistamar parked amongst the shops.

From some angles Narvesen (the newsagents) actually looks more seaworthy!!!

Today's contribution from the Wiltshire branch of 'Visit Honningsvåg' - magical light, calm harbour, wonderful reflections.

That's a picture that really gets better when one knows the story behind it.
