    This is TYNSET

Earlier this autumn, I had to go to TYNSET - a small mountain community south of Trondheim, to have sheep smeared under my car.

    .... ehh... what?

As you know, in Norway, government likes to flood city-streets with a horrible mixture of road salt and chemicals. This has naturally a devastating effect on everything that uses roads, whether it's cars, bikes or shoes. Everything rusts with an incredible speed: brakes must be replaced almost every second year and parts and bolts are getting damaged at an alarming speed.

Without going into more details, as you can probably notice, I'm so appalled and against this practice.

To protect our cars, we have a couple of options, and the most common one has been something we call TECTYL: a compound applied to the undercarriage working almost like paint.

In later years, there is another product on the market: LANOLINOLJE (basically sheep's fat).

And that was the reason for my day trip to TYNSET - to apply sheep's fat to my undercarriage.

On the city hall, there was a sign saying "Kjæm du tell Tynset, så trivs main" (basically, if you make it here, you will enjoy yourself). Pretty strong promise to live up to, if you ask me.

Some images from my trip to Tynset: first starting with two images of this beautiful bridge across the river GLOMMA:

Apparently, the world's largest "spark" at the city square... what in the world is the English word for spark?

That should be "Kicksled" according to this: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/kicksled

Agree Ombugge, kicksled is what I call these. (though I have sometimes also seen it written as two words or hyphenated in English).

Came across this beautiful car at Tynset, because there was a LOT of time to kill before the car was finished.

As there was still more hours to kill, I kept on walking away from city center (city center was completed in 30-45 minutes).

I haven't been many times to Tynset, most of the time I have just driven by on the way south or north.

Was it here that you also bought your ex-army-truck?
