This is Rørvik (Nord Trøndelag County).

Back at our ever-so-famous old board, I had a thread under the above title. I intend to continue with more pictures and some short stories here as time passes by.

To see what we have so far from Rorvik, you may wish to step back to the old board and have a look: there are some 5 pages there starting with page number 1:

I hope you still enjoy seeing these images and that they may inspire you to make similar threads for your own city, place or home.

An image from back in November in 2008 shows a mirror-flat Nærøysund in the setting November sun. It was taken just half an inch above the water from a small boat out on the sound fishing.

The image has been edited in Photoshop a little and was taken with a Sony Cybershot P200 camera.

The next image was taken at the foot of Nærøysund Bridge towards the Nærøysund Light house with my Sony Cybershot, and then afterward edited a little in Photoshop (saturated the colors, cropped and straightened the image). The image was not really sharp enough so I also did Auto Sharpening a few times causing the image to become a bit grainy, as you can see. I also added a lens flare to the lighthouse for dramatic effect.

Both pictures are very nice. At first I was shocked to read that you have switched to Sony until I realized it was your point and shoot camera.

I like the affect on the second picture. It's a good way to salvage a soft image. You have almost made it into a watercolor. The soft focus and grain keeps me from looking for detail so all I get is the emotion/feeling of the scene which is a huge contrast from the pin sharp detail of the first shot. The only thing different I would have done is take out the bird or airplane above the bridge. It is a blemish on a perfect sky.

I must have been blind - how could I not have spotted that little spot?

          Here, without the spot:

I think the picture are beautiful, even with the spot on it..

Not all days are as calm and sunny as a handful of them: here is an image taken back on January 11th 2009 from the mountain behind Rørvik showing Nærøysundet at storm tide: you can also see the house where I currently reside as well, in this image, at Marøya island:
