We start off on one of the most beautiful summer days in as long as I can remember... much because I was so ready to go on a trip!

The sea this day could not have been calmer:

Destination for the day: that's GRIP out there:

What a fantastic thread, so far. There's more...?? :-)

Can't pinpoint any one of your images to say that is better than the other, 'cause they all are just so perfect as far as motifs go. And you see things in "my" city in a totally different way than I do, even after photograpfing the same motifs over and over. Much due to your totally different use of focal length than in example I do.
You set a standard worth reaching for, for us others who strive every day to be better and understand more of photography.

              Wonderful, simply wonderful.

I was just thinking ...such beautiful weather in Norway this summer (and in the darker months the most beautiful Northern Lights) and yet it looks as if 2014 will turn out to be the first calendar year for a very very long time that I haven't actually been in Norway! Ah well, perhaps a trip on board Serenissima and a trip to Thailand counts in our Captain's eyes (...or at least might when I have posted some more photos ).

Dear Sterkoder: you are too kind. I don't consider myself a pro, but it makes me want to try more, do more, and experiment more (within photography) when people enjoy what I create and capture.

I do understand what you say about seeing your own town with different eyes. I suffer the exactly same problem in Trondheim. I don't see the beauty right in front of my nose anymore.

Dear Lady C: Yes, this summer and the whole year in fact, has been incredibly nice. Though, winter is now here and I'm not that often outside anymore. That means posting images from the year.

Dear Tommi: Stay tuned, this is just the beginning of the thread, though, it won't be as many images as previous years.

Here are some more images for those of you that would like to join me on that wonderful day at GRIP.

Prior to this visit, I had never been there - despite living in Kristiansund for a full year.

It was hard to get good images from Grip, because as the boat arrived with a full load of tourists, everybody started walking into the shots.... and as people progressed over the tiny island, the same people would too. I think I waited, and waited, and waited... for a long time each stop to get the shots clear of photographing tourists.

There is a certain charm to this tiny place so far out to sea. I bet when the boat has returned to the mainland, the place is paradise and tranquility.

Grip is an amazing sharp contrast to Brazil, Africa, or even Thailand - or any other of the 229 countries I have traveled to in my life. This is like taken out of a movie set. Surreal in fact.

The final installation for you all to digest and study tonight, are these three shots from the church on the island.

You can tell it's old. You can tell it's been through happiness and sorrow. It's all in the walls.

You know what..., inside Grip church is one of the, if not THE, favourite places for Master photographer Morten Krogvold to do portraits. (Outside the studio, of course). And as we all see (but understand completely once we visit and see live), it has to do with light conditions.

Nice. Charming, Grip with its small houses makes me think of Lilleputt, or Madurodam, or something in between...
                          Regards; Sigve.

Charming place indeed: and in the weather that particular day, it was like a dream come true for me!

I know that in the future some day, I will rent one of those houses for a week and completely relax out there - but I fear how I'll survive without WiFi....
