A pretty fine overview of Bunader can be found at Norsk Husflid: http://www.norskflid.no/bunad/bunader/
    Lots of pretty models!

Can one of you tell me what area is covered by the Bunad in these photos of my Kong Olav thread? I was at Stokmarknes, and I wondered whether the style was limited to that town or a wider area. Also those in the fifth image are different.

Take your pick from this lot:

I think it is actually this one:

        http://www.heimen.no/Produkt/Nord-No...dlandsbunad+G1

Which as the Nordlands one is almost certainly right.

As I understand from Mrs PoloUK, some villages have national dress which aren't strictly Bunad - so she has a Vardødrakt, rather than strictly a Bunad. All I know is that she looks stunning in it - and that it cost an absolute fortune, even to make! It did keep Mrs PoloUK and Mamma PoloUK quiet for nearly a year though to build from kit.
        Cheers,

        Mark.

Thanks Mark, that's it exactly for the main ones. Now I must try and ID the two girls' costumes from the other link. And I suppose those in red were wearing just the local costume for Stokmarknes. Until I learnt about Bunads I had assumed that they were just national ones of some kind. Interesting.
