    Re: This is Oppdal

I'm so facinated by railroads and trains now myself.
Guess it has something to do with me getting to see 'Dovregubben'at Alnabru in 1998, the 125 tonns steam locomotive of NSB (Norwegian Railway Company).
Then I got facinated by the station buildings, and eventually I got special interest in Dovrebanen.

This again led me to drive around and take all the pictures of the station buildings designed by Erik Waldemar Glosimoth, and to by all the Dovrebanen yearbooks since 2008 to learn more.
There are so many interesting stories and pictures from Dovrebanens history, so I treasure these yearbooks/booklets like fine books.

Next project for me is to find a way to see the huge stone bridge over Orkla, the Orkla bru.
    http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orkla_bru
One of the yearbooks had an article about the building of this bridge over several pages, but I have yet to find a useable path down to the bridge.
I was in the area three weeks ago, but was not able to find it...

By the way, here are an image of the Dovrebane yearbook 2012 and 2013, issued by Dovrebanens Venner (Friends of Dovrebanen)

Well, enough Off Topic for now

Oppdal - I love this place... and I love the staff at the former "Domus" .... they have such a fantastic dialect.

Oppdal is a great mountain retreat I think... had a couple of trips there this summer. These next images are from a hike to the top of ALMANNBERGET mountain top which can be seen from "downtown" Oppdal:

Drove up to Oppdal Saturday to buy the Dovrebanen yearbook 2015.
As long as I can remember, the station building has been painted in a nice yellow colour with blue details. Now it was painted in a two tone grey.
Liked it better when yellow (ref. page 3)

Maintenance on the Dovrebanen railway is being done, and here are locomotives and special equipment to perform the maintenance

A sign on the station building wall.

The road there is RV70 from Sunndalsøra and Kristiansund

The new thing now is that it continues past Auna shopping mall and into a roundabout conecting it with the new national road E6

Outside Husfliden in Oppdal are two bikes

The old cafeteria in Oppdal. Everyone stopped for a coffee and snack here in the old days

The 'new' E6? How long has it been designated a new national road? In 2013 it was talked about as if it had been there for years. Or did you mean a 'new' connection with the E6?...
Don't worry, I googled it and found out what is happening. Amazing projects always seem to be happening in Norway.

I'm so happy you found out. I'm sure you all knew what I ment, and in Oppdal this will alway be talked about as the 'new E6' vs. the "old" one 100 meters further north. Note to self: Be more spesific when you write something, or else it will confuse the masses😃

Oppdal one day in March 2016

The 10:03-train from Trondheim to Oslo (left at 10:15 actually, if anyone...., wonder)

                  The old E6 track

A new sculpture in the senter of a large roundabout in the new E6 track behind Skifer Hotel

The nostalgic cafè again. Always something to eat and hot chockolate or soda when I was a little boy and we drove on holiday or something. Good memories...

You are not the only one with many great childhood memories from that old traditional cafe, Sterkoder.... I suppose they are still in business?
                    With kind regards,

Oh yes, they are open, up and going. And you know what...., it's the very same doors in and out of the cafè. How'bout that? :-)
