Aalesund suffered power outage last night: http://www.smp.no/nyheter/article10426564.ece

The picture that illustrate this article is quite spectacular:

The photographer is Ruben Molnes, who has a lot of good pictures from Aalesund and Sunnmore in his portefolio: https://www.google.com.sg/search?q=R...m=122&ie=UTF-8

Maybe we should invite him here at CVF??

It rained when I was in Ålesund. A lot. So the only decent photograph I managed to get was under cover:

But new and improved steps will be there sometime in the future. I.A.

Meanwhile there are alternatives. (See posts 446 & 461)
Here is how they deliver concrete to the construction site: http://www.smp.no/nyheter/article10558613.ece

Looks like some Hurtigruten passengers got a spectacle they did not expect.

It is 111 years since the big fire in Aalesund and, as has become tradition, there were "fire walk" around in the town: http://www.smp.no/kultur/article10569825.ece

What is not yet tradition is the light show in Brosundet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97ESCmR89jE

Aalesund Museum has been somewhat isolated on top of a hill and not easily found or accessible for tourists wandering the street unguided.
That has now hopefully changed with the new steps leading to it from Korsegata. (near the old Post Office and City Hall): http://www.smp.no/nyheter/alesundogo...le10572270.ece

What is the attractions in the Museum?? Here is a link: http://aalesunds.museum.no/
Sorry, the English version doesn't appear to work and Google Translator has a problem with Nynorsk.
The site doesn't appear to have been updated for a while either. (Maybe time to do so now??)

Here is another link with a short description in English: http://www.visitalesund-geiranger.co...ies/?TLp=33349

          And Tripadvisor comments: http://www.tripadvisor.com.sg/Attrac...rn_Norway.html

I'm shamed to admit that I haven't visited for many year/decades.

A pre-view from the new lookout point on the way up to Fjellstua: http://www.smp.no/nyheter/alesundogo...le10573432.ece

Fjellstue is also under restoration: http://www.smp.no/nyheter/alesundogo...le10572613.ece

A lot to look forward to for those CVF-members and guests who are visiting Aalesund this year.

Seen from Hellebroa and in southerly direction, this does not look so bad,
BUT - the view the other way: Concrete pads that obstruct the view of the old Jugend houses. Not good at all.

The future Hurtigruten Terminal at Skansekaia as it looks today: http://www.smp.no/nyheter/alesundogo...le10715967.ece
Only a small part of this will be used by passengers and cargo for Hurtigruten, the rest will be offices.
