Remember the old icon "Slinningsbua", which has been mentioned many times in this thread???
Here is the latest development, or at least a proposal: http://www.smp.no/nyheter/alesundogo...cle7281813.ece

Could there be somebody with money to spare who are interested in this project before it is too late??
Olav Thon, use some of your millions for something more useful than paying tax to a government coffer that is already overflowing:

Now is high season for Cod fishing in Borgundfjorden. In fact this include Aspevaagen and Hessafjorden as well. Where else in the world can you catch Cods full of roe inside the harbour??

This is a traditional seasonal fishery that has been going on for more than 1000 years and is still an attraction to many, both professional and hobby fishermen.

Difficult find much in English on this, but here is a mentioning on Visit Norway: http://www.visitnorway.com/en/where-...-and-sunnmore/

PS> Here is a picture from Aalesund Havn right now:
Quite a few out there fishing, rather chasing around in the mountain in their Easter holiday.
PPS> Somebody should clean the lens and/or window.

PPPS> There appears to be more activity at night:

Some new cuts but some maybe a few years old.
              I like the borealis shots.

This should be familiar scenery to some:

The sun finally broke through the clouds, after two days of slid rain and clouds down almost to sea level. Looking better for the rest of the week.

Weather is steadily improving and the temperature climbed from 8C to 15C, at least for a short time:

This is from Naustberget on Hessa:

New building is going on everywhere, incl. new Boat houses with living spaces, but the above is not among them.

I certainly am in Aalesund and here is some pictures from a little walk in the down town area yesterday.

                        First, the "new" City Hall:

I must agree that it looks better than before, but it is still not much of an architectural master piece.

Another new building with a glass facade:

With reflection of the old "Svaneapoteket". (Now Jugen Centre)

Hellebroa is usually where everybody take pictures from.
Here is a picture of the bridge in stead:

Tulips is still in bloom in Aalesund:

The unavoidable picture of Brosundet from Hellebroa:

There were a Cruise ship in town, which inevitably bring some life to the streets:

The "Oracle of Aalesund", Mr. Harald Grytten, has got his statue near Brosundet, where he can stand and enjoy the sight of his beloved Aspoya for eternity:

The statue was unveiled on Saturday. Yesterday he was out and about with his little stool, telling everybody the history of Aalesund.

Aalesund has got "Hop on, Hop off" buses, just like other metropolises around the world:

And long range buses to Oslo, Trondheim and Kristiansund:

Nice stroll around Ålesund, onbugge, and it’s also enjoyable (and in a way a bit exotic!!!! ), to encounter your cruise-ship-spotting contributions in other threads

The weather was quite nice in the afternoon:

But the temperature was a disappointing 12C most of the day.

The sunset was also disappointing. Here is Sula at 2345 hrs.:

Not glowing in the setting sun.

At midnight it was no better:

Hopefully we get some days with better conditions soon.
