Going to Copenhagen next weekend: need an affordable hotel for two nights...

I'm going to Copenhagen for two nights next week, Friday, December 3rd - Sunday, December 5th 2010.... and I need an affordable, safe and clean hotel room for those two nights.

Any suggestions...? What I have found so far is really expensive one's... I would love somewhere in town, near the Tivoli (will it be open in December?)... and I do not want to stay in a motel with shower in the hall way....

Anyone that has an excessive amount of air-miles they want to burn off for me?

What do you recommend for activities on Saturday December 4th... (well apart from the world famous ***-museum... ...)...?

I stayed in one of the Cab Inn hotels a number of years ago, it was the Scandinavia. Located just across that string of lakes that mark the line of old fortifications. Small rooms (hence the cabin name) but with private facilities.

There are also lots of hotels behind the main railway station – used to be a dubious area but mostly an Ok and even trendy neighbourhood now, but I don’t know specific recommendations of hotels there from personal experience.

Tivoli is indeed now open for Christmas! – Don’t miss it – I absolutely loved going there at this time of year, and you would take the most amazing photos.

I won't be home in time to look-up the name of the place where I last stayed. It would be perfect. Nice, safe, clean and only a couple blocks from Tivoli. The only drawback was the small windows since it was a converted historical building.

The *** museum was moderately amusing but there were a few guys that seemed to be spending too much time watching the movies... and wearing long trench coats... with their hands in their pockets. It's best to not sit down or touch anything.

We are presently staying in Hotel Danmark.
Reasonable priced, old style next to Raadhuset, one block from Tivoli and Stroeget just down the street.
Relatively small rooms, all with shower and some with bathtub. Not bad. Lots of Norwegians staying here.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu right across from Tivoli....but I doubt it would be called "reasonable"--it was where Crystal parks everyone, pre-and post-cruise...... DKK1500 and up? What is "reasonable" to Norwegians? Wow, a whole new topic for a thread?

Ombugge’s hotel is very conveniently situated. I had only been thinking absolute cheapest (we needed a hotel that student’s could afford for a conference when there was no university accommodation available).
Increasing the price range somewhat, I just checked up on other places I’d stayed in that area, Scandic Webers which is just across from the Radisson, and The Square which is in the Town Hall Square itself, designer trendy – and it’s where I took this panorama from, but when checking what the current prices are, it seemed they are both booked up for the dates you require.

Thanks for all the tips! I will look into those hotels mentioned.. and thank you all very much for the new photographs in the "This is Copenhagen-thread"....

I hope the weather will be perfect and that I will see some of the beautiful scenes that you all have seen.
