    Re: World hotel room views

Not exactly Hotel Rooms, but rooms in Camps serves the same purpose, just not as "nice". Here is some I have stayed in lately.

Camp 4 at Lihir Island, PNG:

Just built , but not full functional yet at the time I stayed there in June.

My room was totally impractical and lacked normal camp service:

      Camp 3B at Lihir:

All Shipping Containers converted to single rooms.

      Quite roomy and well equipped:

The choice of blanket left something to be desired:

I presume it does put some colours into an otherwise dull interior design.

The mess hall for all of Camp 3 is in the main camp area:

They feed abt. 2000 persons for breakfast and dinner. (If you want lunch you make your own "matpakke", Norwegian style)

When passing through Port Moresby in June, I stayed a few hours in this camp:

        Fairly basic rooms:

This camp was established to house people working in the new Port and on the new LNG Plant being built there. Secure area in an otherwise not so safe place.

I stopped over in Port Moresby twice on my last trip to Lihir Island, but stayed in normal hotels, not camps:

On the way out I stayed at Gateways near the Airport. I didn't take any pictures of the room, but it was fairly small with no view to speak of.
Here is the swimming pool area:

The Bar and Restaurant was in one:

Wild Orchids are commonly found in PNG:

Orchid breeders from Singapore and Thailand regularly come to PNG to look for new species and to maintain their stock of wild Orchids from which to produce new hybrids.

The famous wild Blue Sepik Orchid is the origin of the equally famous Orchid that has become a symbol of Thai Airways.

Going home I stayed at the Ela Beach Hotel in town.

Very nice and well equipped room:

            With a very large veranda:

This being a Sunday Ela Beach was quite well patronaged:

The next day I noticed that there were a sewage line going out over the reef: (Just to the left here)

A signal was sounded when raw sewage were being pumped out.

But the hotel had a Swimming Pool that was in an enclosed area:

Not quite as many people on the beach on a Monday moring:

PS> That blue "box" is the Sewage pumping station.

Isn't it funny how a pipe spewing sewage can clear a beach.

Beautiful Bird of Paradise (Heliconia) in your vase. I love tropicals.

The Sandnes is such a lovely and handsome vessel, I even like her green hull.
