Escargot: not at all as bad as it sounds...

It's been many years since I last had this absolutely delicious dish, and sometimes I do really long for a great tasting plate dipped in garlic sauce... such as this treat which I enjoyed at a street-side restaurant in Quebec, Canada, on September 27th 2005:

Since I am basically a Sausage & Egg butty person, I had to look up what Escargot was.
Escargot is snails? I can only think of these things sliding up my garden path. People really eat snails?
Good grief I am glad that I am a simple food kinda person.
                Thank you.... but I'll pass!!

Exactly my sentiments as well when I was first offered to try a plate... in the Crystal Dining Room, the officer hosting a table naturally can not refuse to eat what his/her other guests are eating...

I thought to myself who disgusting this is but then the Lady next to me whispered in my ear: "mind over matter"...

And, I took my first bite of something I have come to love very much.. properly prepared snails served in a garlic-y butter-y kind of pot: YUMMY!!!!

Ghere is an old Chinese saying; anything can be eaten if it turns it's back to the sun, except wolfs heart and dogs lungs. (or is it the other way around)

It's quite easy, actually... And I think the garlic sauce even would make SHOE LEATHER tasty........................

I love escargot, I tried it for the first time when Premier had us travel agents onboard before her first paying voyage. It was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooo good. . Then I had it on our first cruise on the NORWAY in Aug. 22, '92 cruise...it wasn't so good. It had a crust on top, no butter; just olive oil and I don't think I even tasted garlic. Then on the last 2 cruises we did, on the NORWAY in June '94 and in Aug. '02; they had gotten better chefs. I just loooooooooooooooooooooooove the taste of it.
sigpicI will never forget the lovely grand SS NORWAY.
                            Past Cruises on her: August 22, 1992. June 4, 1994, April 7, 2002.
Nearly had our fourth cruise, it was set for November 7, 2003...
the boiler room disaster of May 4, 2003 took her out of service.
We ended up on the NORWEGIAN WIND, not the same as the SS NORWAY
