Trondheim Airport Værnes / Hell Airport...

Came in at Trondheim airport last night with SAS SK 4587... and thought about it, where are the best spotter locations around Værnes Airport?

I see every day messages from the plane-spotting community around here, messages about special types of aircraft. Apparently, there is a lot of things to photographs every day these times.

Sadly, I have no left over time to go there and capture anything.

Great views, Captain!! My favorite airport away from my own. Spent 1 1/4 year there as a mechanic at RNoAF Pilot School (Jan. 1982 - May 1982), just outside the right edge of your second picture here.

We should have been at Værnes during Trident Juncture.

Much earlier this year, on one of my countless departures from Værnes out into the world, I was able to get these awesome images of the airport: perhaps Sterkoder likes seeing a familiar airport(?):

Thank you so very much for having a look and for enjoying these pictures. Believe me, you were in my mind on many of these trips to do some spotting. It's always great to look back at places you have spent many years of your life.

I do understand your limitations with a 135 mm lens. With a 600 and a 2x extender, I ended up with 1200 mm, which is pretty awesome as long as you have a good and stable tripod and sufficient light. This is probably the coolest lens I have ever had I think.

Can't wait for 2019 to start... so many things already happening that year, and now, a giant NATO excercise as well.... as long as the world has not been thrown into a nuclear war that is.

I spent 12 months with RNoAF at Værnes, so I enjoy every picture from that airport alot.
Thanks, Jan-Olav, and lucky you who got that lense. I went up there to that hill one day to see the Antonov myself, but 135mm came at least 300mm too short.
If I remember correct, 2019 will see the largest NATO exercise ever to be held in Norway, and it will be held in Trøndelag/Møre og Romsdal. I'm sure we will hear more when the
time of the experience close in.
    Great pictures, thanks again.

The final two shots to end these posts today, is a zoom-capability test.... not related to the airport I think.
