Thai Airways also have one more LCC, but that one they own together with Singapore Tiger Airways, called Thai Tiger.

Thai Smile Air will start flying with 11 Airbus A-320 in June 2012, have their main base at Bangkoks Suvarnabhumi Airport, and will focus on flights shorter than 2 hours, in example Bangkok to/from Ubon Ratchathani, Khon Kaen, Chiang Rai og Surat Thani.

    EDIT:
It seems like things happen fast in the aviation business. When reading through the Bangkok Post of 17th September (via web), I see Thai Airways Intl. has scrapped the joint venture deal with Singapore Tiger Airways, to create their own Thai Smile Air. Sorry for getting y'all confused...

It's always nice to know few things about alot, than alot about few things...., or something like that.
(And never forget what I've always said: try to learn at least one new thing every day. It's fun!

            Re: News from/about Thai Airways

            Dear readers,

As many of you may already know, Thai Airways was started by Scandinavian Airlines and in the very beginning, the Thai logo was inspired by the original SAS dragon.

A few days ago, I came across these two wonderful shots of THEPPRASIT, a Boeing 747 painted in the original retro livery.

Personally, I love retro-liveries on aircrafts, mostly because the liveries of the old days were much more elegantly designed than the designs of today. This one is no exemption.

I would love to photograph this one myself one day, and I have asked a knowledgeable friend to let me the future whereabouts of this particular aircraft.

            I hope, I hope.

An image from Airliners.net of the entire aircraft: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Thai-...c02d2d9e8b6b8a

Captains question in Facebook: "Anyone have an idea where I can get a copy of this book?"

Sorry but i won't publish any senseful stuff in FB, so you get the answer here, if you pop in once in again sooner or later.

There has even been a game, where you could win it as price:

I think you will find a way to make a deal with them.

Those were the only two definitive links I too was able to find. Even after also venturing into e-bay territory!… The book is actually from 2010, specially published as part of Thai Airways 50th anniversary celebrations…they even won an award in the marketing world for that!:
                                http://www.thaiairways.com.cn/en/ind.../detail/id/164

(…and if you do read that link, pakarang, I absolutely HAVE to tell you how VERY much I loved and laughed at the very notion of a Little Captain mobile game. 55555)

Books and games apart, I did enjoy the live streaming of the celebrations from Toulouse yesterday of the first A380 delivery –and personally lusted after the gift from Rolls Royce to Thai at 37:27 into the replay here at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=If4CWWZjf0s
(not in the short 5 minute highlight version here.)
